Generative Alchemy is enabling the convergence of Materials and Manufacturing, by correlating the material microstructure with the manufacturing process to ensure results of the highest quality, by leveraging Artificial Intelligence.

Converging Materials Science and Additive Manufacturing

Laser Powder-Bed Fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing process has undergone a great deal of development over the past 10 years to attain a degree of stability in the manufacturing process. However, despite the recent advances there remains a huge deficiency in materials innovation, where most powder metal materials are largely derived from standard bar stock specifications that are totally agnostic of the laser melting process.

We believe that this is the primary reason why metal additive manufacturing has not advanced as prolifically in industry as expected, since the process is being forced to fit the material specification.

Generative Alchemy's approach is to bridge the gap between material composition, resulting microstructure and the laser melting process, to yield the best quality components that meet the design requirements.

We envisage a future state where Artificial Intelligence can generate new unique and bespoke material compositions that are specific to the end use requirements, thereby realizing a materials driven innovation strategy for Additive Manufacturing.
